LONDON RITUAL OF LIGHT
The Worx, Studio 8, London 10
POWERED BY LIVING N EXPERIENCE LONDON
June is the month of the Summer Solstice which marks the begin of summer.
Italia for Contract is delighted to celebrate the magnificence of light, creating an event where the light is the main character which, combined with art, architecture, sound and food, is able to bring into life an extraordinary result.Crassevig, Frag, Moroso and Pratic, members of the Italia for Contract network, are the companies that exhibit their Made in Italy products which will be presented as a coordinated texture installation for a unique and sensorial experience.
Solstice comes from the Latin language “solstat – the sun stops”, and, in fact, it almost seems as if the sun hesitates a bit in this position before resuming its descending path. The sun reaches its maximum positive declination compared to the heavenly equator and, then, it takes the opposite direction: it begins the astronomic summer. It’s the time we can capture the most of the solar power: the mystical force that joins the sky and the ground is stronger. This truth was also known by the ancients peoples who seemed to be aware of the the “ley lines”, the mysterious energy lines that digs the earth’s surface and increased their energy load through solar power.

Building upon the success of its launch in South Africa and Azerbaijan, as well as the recent launch of new products in Milan, the two-day event kicks off with an opening night party on May 17th, and offered Canadian designers and specifiers the opportunity to meet with and learn about product offerings from the following companies: Crassevig, seating; Fantoni, office furniture, pre-finished flooring and acoustic panels; Frag, leather furniture; Kenius, concrete; Molaro, windows and doors; and Moroso, furniture and accessories.
“Toronto is the third largest market in North America, and Canada’s one of the best countries in the world for business, so we see it as a huge growth market for Italian manufacturing,” said Carlo Piemonte, Director for ITALIA FOR CONTRACT. “We were very excited to introduce new products to the Canadian market in an event that includes parties, exhibits and education.”
In addition to visiting the exhibits, attendees could attend two free, CEU seminars. This seminar took place May 18 from 6 – 7 p.m. Smelling Colours – International Scent Design, on May 19 from 9 – 10 a.m., explored the principles of scent design and how it impacts the way people connect with a space.
“The new connections designers make through these networking and sourcing opportunities are key to their continued success,” said Tracy Bowie, IIDEXCanada VP. “IIDEXCanada is proud to continue its tradition of facilitating these introductions especially with such amazing products from Italy.”

NEW CODE DESIGN - LA BIENNALE DI ARCHITETTURA - VENEZIA
Starting from the assumption that the
ecosustainability of a product is determined not only by the choice of the
materials, the possibility to re-use, the reduction of the matter used and the
packaging, but also and mainly by the degree of innovation and research on the
design, ELOGICO suggested to the companies to think about a new product or re-think one of
their historical series with this new vision. The creativity of the young designers, their green approach and the technological innovations, will permit to the historical pieces to become sustainable or to realize new green solutions for products suitable to the history, peculiarities and style of the companies.

The DESIGN”EAR” project comes from a meeting between
two versatile and innovative artists like Renato Geraci and Valerio Vicentini,
the latter is already an artistic director, stylist and designer and the second
is a refined contemporary composer and music producer. The project is based on
the principle that every single object emits a particular and unique sound if
struck, rubbed, or even blown. Each product gives a harmonic or percussive
sound and when all these sounds are mixed together according to a real
“composition” and arrangement, we get an amazing result. In the case of
DESIGNEAR, this is a real orchestra of 15 elements that will play a tune for
the visitors of the Fuorisalone at the Magna Pars in via Tortona, when they are
joined together by harmonic glue such as the sound of a piano. So, we have
unveiled the objective of publishing this ELOGICA Sustainability periodical. We
want to give voice to sounds and noises, to sustainable ideas and projects by
gathering the story of international experts, well-known designers, bio
architects, visionary entrepreneurs, and bands.
